| The
Cooperative Spirit
Congratulations on being interested in a co-op! There is no doubt, your
child will benefit from the consistent presence of a group of parents
and teachers who love and care for them. Hopefully you and your family
will benefit from the strong community and relationships you will build
while at WPNS. This is truly a unique place that has a tremendous amount
to offer us all. One of the things that makes WPNS such a unique place
are the parents – the countless hours, the special talents and the
undying commitment to our children. Our school is dependent on you for
its success!
Parents are involved in every facet of the School including participating
in the classroom, serving on committees and keeping the facility operating
effectively. Parent meetings serve as a forum for discussion of events
and issues. Parents serve on the annually elected Board of Directors,
which manages and maintains WPNS. We expect that every parent will do
what they can when they can.
Membership duties
To fulfill our co-op responsibilities, we all must:
- Attend approximately six parent meetings (one absence is permitted a year)
- Serve on at least one committee
- Participate as a “working parent” in the classroom
- Participate in one "Community Rebuilding" day per year (one 4 hour session offered per semester)
- Support our fundraisers to the best of your ability
- Submit prompt payment of tuition and fees
Bylaws, Rules and Procedures
Governance of the WPNS community is administered through the comprehensive
Bylaws and Standing Rules. A copy of the bylaws is given each family at
the time of enrollment.
