Karen Trudell, Director

Karen is a highly qualified early childhood educational professional with 25 years experience as a teacher and director, mentoring staff, communicating with parents, teaching children and developing creative preschool curriculum. As the director she is responsible for managing the daily operations of the preschool and working with our Board of Directors to ensure children and parents have many wonderful experiences at WPNS.  One highlight from her job is developing strong relationships with parents, children and staff. As a teacher she is responsible for a classroom of children, creating and providing activities during free choice time, music time, small group time and playground time. Karen has a strong background in child development.  Karen works with the staff to prepare our children to enter Kindergarten with the skills necessary to be successful. 

Karen holds the following California State Credentials: Early Childhood Education Teaching Certificate, State of California Commission on Teacher Credentialing Child Development Site Supervisor Permit and Associate of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education. Karen also serves as a Professional Growth Advisor with the CCTC (California Commission on Teacher Credentialing). Karen loves her   role at WPNS and encourages teamwork, laughter and strong, lasting relationships with children, parents and staff. 

Karen has two grown daughters, Jennifer in Redwood City, and Alexandra in Santa Maria. In her free time Karen loves to spend time with her two grandsons, Cooper and Colton and her granddaughter, Karly. She enjoys taking her dog, Stella, trail running, reading, going to the movies, and being with friends and family.
