| “Conflict
resolution is the number one skill
our children are going to need to be successful in the 21st century.”
- US Nuclear Age Education Task Force
WPNS has a process in place that helps resolve conflict so each person
feels heard and a solution can be reached. We call this process “Talk
it Out”. This process ensures that our school community remains
a positive environment for adults and children alike. We treat conflicts
as a natural by-product of being in a family-like school environment.
By doing so, we see conflict as an opportunity for growth and improved
personal relationships.
How to "Talk It Out"
-
Take time to cool off.
-
Talk and Listen.
-
Think of ways to solve the problem.
- Choose the idea you like the best.
Our goal is to model this behavior for our children and to help them navigate
the process with one another. Naturally, the ability to complete these
steps will depend on the age group of the children. What is important
is to provide the children, at any age, with an introduction and demonstration
of how to successfully resolve conflict.
